Full Recap of the Sail Newport Regatta 2022

Team Surf Club wins the 2022 Sail Newport Regatta

July 11, 2022

Team Surf Club wins the 2022 Sail Newport Regatta which counts as NAASA Race Days 4 and 5. By winning 4 out of 6 races, Team Surf Club sailed flawlessly anytime the breeze was up. However, in light air Team TBD 1 with Olympic 470 sailor Stu McNay and Kaleigh Morgan were unstoppable, consistently able to find the best pressure and win two races in light air. Despite an early start to the day to try to seize the morning breeze the fleet was forced to endure two light air races and that would be it for the day, leaving the final podium the same as the day before.

With the leaders in comfortable position, the rest of the fleet certainly had a tight battle with many position changes as some teams found light wind spots on the course. Skip Whyte and Josh Bartoszuk had perhaps the most to celebrate as they sailed their last event on their C2 and took delivery of a new to them Nacra Evolution back on shore. This means there is a great second-hand boat available to anyone looking to get into the fleet!

Next up is NAASA Race Day 6th Saturday August 16th.
